Bond
never went to Severnaya in the movie, so the levels were forced
and similar to Silo in that they were simple side quests that
didn't effect the eventual end of the movie and were simply
additional missions for our 00 Agent.
The
level previously had a very white sky, rather than the purplish
sky now.
The level picture itself even looks to have this white sky.

The towers must've been intended to house Sniper guards, who
you would need to pick off.
However, based on the AI routines they set, the guard would
only fire if you were directly across from the guard, so it
made the sniper tower guards mostly useless. They also liked
to fall down the ladder a lot, and could not go back up. |
 |
The
observatory is the one unused building in the level. It clearly
had to have some purpose at one point, and it had a nice little
indent on the bottom.
It's unknown what would occur here. |
 |
The
Russian commandant gives you a key you need for the level. He's
not wearing a hat, one of the very few guards who doesn't wear
a hat. |
 |
Ahh
there it is, in the left cabin of the fenced in area, the commandant's
apparent hut. The crate in the corner also explodes into many
books.
In Surface 1, these huts seem to be their little beta sendoff. |
 |
The
other cabin there has a sectioned room with body armor.
The cabin on the left in the back has the motorcycle (originally
intended for Runway), and this weird stool that I've never seen
before or in another level, and have no clue what it could've
been intended for.
The other cabin in the back right has lockers and a bookcase.

One
thing I noticed, was the key you pick up from the commandant
is simply called a large key on pickup. |
 |
Yet
it's called a hut door key in your watch. Normally, they tell
you what you pickup, even if it's a key.
How does Bond know it's a safe key or a hut door key, they all
look the same? I assume this was just a mistake they forgot
to change back. At the moment they made it, they were unclear
on what exactly it would open, so they just called it a large
door key. |
