There
are two definite beta guards in the first area. The one pictured
here would not have increased the difficulty that much, but
still could be more trouble. |
 |
The
guard secretly hiding in the first room to the right could pose
a serious problem to a player, as he tried to shoot the two
on the left, and this one as well.
It's not that that difficult, but it changes the beginning a
lot. Frigate is not that hard overall.
Note that all beta guards from this level had scarfaces; of
course this would be until they had finished all of the faces. |
 |
The
whole upper frigate area screams for more action. It's completely
wasted, and there's nothing to do up here in the final version.
It seems like something had to have been up here. |
 |
In
the early version, there may have even been another level to
the frigate above this part, which could explain this upper
portion. |
 |
There
are deadends on both sides of the bridge room, inexplicably.
They do offer a decent view, but since they're locked without
getting a guard to open them, and there are no guards visible
from these spots to snipe, they seem to have no reason.
Could they have have been stairs to a supposed upper level? |
 |
View
of the start. |
 |
The
other one is a view of the other side of the ship, mostly bare. |
 |
The
whole hangar area appears to have been the site for another
serious objective piece. Computers lined both sides (the presets
still exist for it, but unused), and there are is a path through
the hangar. |
 |
Computers
are the most likely candidate, and the blue "rocket rack"
(item digit BA) crashes the game if put there (but does not
necessarily mean it was not for here). |
 |
Xenia
was rumored to be aboard the frigate, and could have been in
the hangar. If not she would have been in the upper portion,
that is completely and inexplicably unused. |
 |
The
Helicopter pilot is the other unused character that had to be
for the frigate level. Along with Xenia, she would board the
chopper and steal it. |
 |
Could
another bomb have been placed in this hangar? Seems likely. |
 |
It's
possible the terrorist was slated for frigate, but they may
have changed the stakes a little too high.
It's fine how it is. |
 |
Keep
Clear doors are found in memory but not used by the frigate
level. The best guess for them is that they would have been
around the engine room, since most passangers would be advised
to steer clear of it.
Surprising they not did use them, they fit nicely. |
 |
There
were a total of six doors with presets still in memory, and
in fact they're still loaded, they just have a bad room pointer.
The doors here are normally not filled in. |
 |
With
the old guard setup, it would've made it better, because the
guard on the right you could open the door, pop, then hurry
over to the other door and take out the other two.
Since the guards were removed, they probably saw no reason to
keep the doors, just slowed down progress and another door to
open. There are quite a lot already in the stage. |
 |
These two doors that are normally not there were probably removed
to make the level a little trickier. |
 |
If
you go this direction, the guard will see you and many will
come out.
The door being there would probably change the stage to more
of opening pop guard, move on. |
 |
The
hostage room near the beginning has this door open normally.
|
 |
It makes it slightly trickier now, because after taking out
the guard in the other holding the hostage, you need to rush
over here to protect this hostage or he dies.
A good addition, although it would make sense that the frigate
ordinarily would have doors in all these in betweens. |
 |
I tend to think the room on the right here with this final removed
door had a bigger purpose previously.
It has those bars that you can shoot through separating it from
the other room, and it just seems like it would have been a
special room. |
 |
Now,
there's no door there, which makes the guards come out.
Maybe there was a hostage in there at one point.
There is an intro that views that room, it really seems like
there was more to it. |
 |
Was
Xenia intended to steal the chopper and actually take off?
Probably not, as the chopper is a preset that cannot leave the
ground. However, if it is switched it can nicely be lifted off
the air. |
 |
Once
the whole Xenia/Helicopter Pilot was removed, it seemed appropriate
to not let the chopper take off, since Xenia was not there to
take it off.
It could've been slipped into the end-scene, but apparently
they decided against it.
This level is one I really felt they sleighted, and should've
had a lot more. It's too easy as it is really. |
 |
Some
sort of torpedo rack (Ptorpedo_rackZ). Intended for frigate
it would seem. May have been instead of the computers in that
hangar.
It is doubtful they were ever more than explosives though
that would blow up if shot, since Bond wouldn't have or be
able to use a torpedo launcher. |
 |
Xenia
rumored to be on board the ship, originally called Destroyer.
From the briefing, she was definitely intended to be there.
It was originally called Destroyer, but was changed for some
reason.
